Flashback! My mother sought housing from various Realtors in the 1960s following her divorce from my father. I found the real estate agents to be uncaring, uninformed, and they treated my mother with disdain. The housing they offered my mother was unfit to live in. I asked an agent why we were looking at the shanties and if they would live in them. That experience motivated me to tell my mother that I want to be a Real Estate Broker and be a help to people. I was about 9 years old and I found my calling. I obtained my Real Estate license when I was 20 years old. I began buying rental property when I was 21. I opened my own firm when I was 24. I began building homes when I was 26. I provide housing opportunities when others say no – I say YES! It is still true today, I want to be a Real Estate Broker and be a help to people!
Moreover, it is what the real estate agents didn’t do to help my mother that motivated me the most! They did not inform my mother of financing that would help my mother to afford much better housing – payments based on my mother’s income. The real estate agents did not show her new construction homes and did not take her to new developments. The real estate agents did not offer my mother guidance and advice on increasing her quality of living. The real estate agents did not present an eager desire to help my mother to obtain housing or have a better quality of life but rather presented a reluctant dread of having to deal with my mother and they treated her with disdain.
My mother’s experience is still my motivation and when you choose to work with me, I will treat you the way I want my mother to be treated. I am eager to be of service and to be a help to you – to serve you and if possible, to guide you to a better quality of life. When others say no, I say YES!
